TRANSPARENCY AS A TOOL TO REDUCE UNEMPLOYMENT
Executive Summary:
The NAACP proposes a Presidential initiative to ensure fair and transparent processes in the recruitment and hiring for publically-funded jobs. In many communities, including white communities and communities of color, the crisis of unemployment is compounded by the lack of access to publically-funded jobs, which is not only unfair but costly, in that those who are unemployed rely on public benefits to subsidize their cost of living. Less than 30% of publically-funded jobs are posted at public employment service centers, leaving the vast majority of publically-funded jobs inaccessible to the public, even though their tax dollars make these jobs possible. read more click here
